Commissioned by an art director with an adventurous appetite for design, this bed is an amalgamation of John Willke’s ideas of art and function. The headboard consists of two modular asymmetrical sculptural units offset on the large platform surface. The platform is underlit with cold cathode lighting providing a warm white glow and giving the appearance of the bed floating within the room. The platform extends 11 inches around the mattress, replacing the need for bedside tables, and may even serve as seating. Two large drawers provide “under bed” storage enabling this bed to function as the primary piece of furniture in the bedroom.Constructed of high quality maple plywood with a natural Tung oil finish. All beds are signed, branded, and numbered.
